Four women and five children die every day in the U.S. due to domestic violence. Read President Barack Obama's Presidential Proclamation announcing his commitment to reducing the prevalence of domestic violence in our country.

About Me

After the very stressful experience of filing an Order of Protection against my then-husband, Neil Zucconi, I decided to write about it as a way to help my healing process while also hopefully providing helpful information to other women who are going through this difficult situation, so they know they're not alone.  At some point, I'll work my way through this healing process and will move on. I certainly don't want to stay in this painful place for long. But for now, this is a good way for me to let out some steam, without screaming or pulling my hair out.  ;)

I think the hardest thing about this whole nightmare has been dealing with the shock and anger that this could actually have happened to me.  For other women who find themselves caught in this kind of situation, know that you did nothing wrong, and you absolutely do not deserve this.  No one should be afraid, and no one should get to the point where they have to file an Order of Protection against someone else, especially against their husband.  But, it happens.  And just like every other challenge, you get through it, you deal with the lingering emotions any way you can (for me, it's by writing), and then you move on and don't look back.
